As one begins to analyse Johnny Boy Eriksson’s symbolic language in “Devoured” one recognizes characters that represent various stereotypes that we find in society: from classical figures like kings, to the hip-hop artists of today. With their attributes they symbolize the different values, different lifestyles and different environments that characterize the social group to which they belong. They are so immersed in their roles that they are scarcely conscious of being in the process of losing their own identities, or of gradually disappearing into the walls of roses.
