    Selling Art — SoldbyWetterling

For over four decades, Wetterling Gallery has cultivated relationships with collectors, institutions, and artists worldwide. Our Art Advisory service extends that network beyond our exhibition programme: we represent owners in the private sale of their works, and acquire specific pieces on the secondary market on behalf of collectors. Each engagement is conducted with discretion and informed judgement.
Acquiring fine art is seldom the difficulty. A recognised work by a recognised artist is sound ground. Selling it well is the rarer skill, and it rests on knowing the right collector at the right moment.
SoldbyWetterling is our service for owners who wish to sell, whether or not they have worked with the gallery before. We place each work privately, drawing on four decades of personal relationships with collectors and institutions across the world, without exposing it to the uncertainty of public auction.
"Two paintings from one exhibition: the same motif, the same dimensions, sold within months of each other. One realised some sixty per cent more than the other. The difference lay not in the work, but in how it was sold." — Björn Wetterling, Founding Director

    Sourcing Art

For collectors seeking a particular painting, print, or sculpture no longer available through a gallery or fair, our network reaches private owners, estates, and institutions across the secondary market. We identify works by artist, period, or subject, and negotiate their acquisition privately, in confidence.
It is a considered alternative to the auction room: without public bidding, and without obligation until the right work is secured on the right terms.
Our advisory work centres on post-war and contemporary masters, among them Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Frank Stella, James Rosenquist, Robert Rauschenberg, and Roy Lichtenstein.
For artists beyond this selection, we invite you to enquire; our network extends considerably further.
Contact us using the form below, by email at info@wetterlinggallery.com, or by telephone to Björn Wetterling directly on +46 8 10 10 09.
  • Where can I sell a Rauschenberg, Warhol, or other blue-chip work?

Through Wetterling Gallery's Art Advisory service, SoldbyWetterling. We place works privately with our international network of collectors and institutions, in preference to public auction.

How does a private sale differ from selling at auction?

There is no public reserve, no risk of the work going unsold, and no auction premium deducted from the result. The process remains private from first enquiry to completion.

Must I be an existing client of the gallery?

No. SoldbyWetterling is open to new collectors and owners as well as established clients.
