Larry Poons (b. 1937, Tokyo) is one of the most significant contemporary artists of his generation. Over the decades, his practice has evolved from the optical precision of his early dot paintings to the dynamic physicality of his poured and thrown works, ultimately establishing him as a master of abstract painting. His works are not static objects, but ongoing events — testimonies of a restless energy that has never waned. Poons’s paintings are represented in major museum collections worldwide and have been featured in numerous retrospectives. He lives and works in New York.
