Liva Isakson Lundin and Linnéa Sjöberg are the recipients of the 2018 Maria Bonnier Dahlin Foundation grant. The foundation was established by Jeanette Bonnier in 1985, in memory of her daughter Maria, who lost her life in a car accident at the age of 20. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded grants to young Swedish artists to support them in their work. The 2018 guest jury 2018 included artist Lars Nilsson and Jo Widoff, curator of International Art at Moderna Museet.

From the jury’s statement:

“Through her (Liva Isakson Lundin) creative output, she investigates ‘the intrinsic qualities and fictive emotional state of her materials’. Employing steel, gelatine, rubber and glass in her sculptures and installations, Lundin expresses the contradictory nature of the materials’ characteristics – soft and hard, oily and dry, permanent and temporary.”
