Sebastian Blanck: [WG.Project 9] That's Why We're Running Away

The work of Sebastian Blanck has over many years been dominated by portraying and documenting the life of his family and artist friends. In intimate watercolor and paper collages, he pictured everyday life in New York and on the countryside. In his new series of work, he allows himself to be more open and intuitive, and he turns his focus more to landscape than to strict portraiture. We encounter sunny days at the beach and romantic sceneries of wintry snow landscapes. But still, the scenes are not empty, the artist is not alone. It is the experience of the unburdened company with family and friends that matters, and the consciousness of attachment that he captures.

In his fifth solo exhibition at Wetterling Gallery, he is for the first time presenting new oil paintings after more than ten years of working with paper and collage. The exhibition includes 6 oil paintings and 11 watercolor collages on stretched paper.
