Nathalia Edenmont: [WG.151] HERE I AM
Wetterling Gallery presents HERE I AM, a major exhibition by Nathalia Edenmont, offering a rare overview of the artist's career.
Spanning more than two decades, the exhibition brings together early photographs and portraits, the celebrated butterfly works, pieces involving eggs, and, most recently, sculpture — tracing the artist's sustained engagement with life, death, beauty, and fertility.
Edenmont's constructed photographs move between fascination and unease, built on contrasts: painting and photography, abstraction and figuration, seduction and discomfort. In more dramatic compositions, the artist has addressed subjects such as menstruation and miscarriage, challenging convention and reflecting on how individuality is shaped and constrained.
Often described as someone who "paints with a photographic lens," Edenmont expands photography into a lavish, almost painterly space. The artist's butterfly works, composed of thousands of assembled wings, radiate a vivid chromatic energy; elsewhere, beetles, flowers, vegetables, and eggs are arranged into elaborate sculptural settings that blur portraiture and still life, drawing on memory, art history, and popular culture.
This material sensibility has, more recently, led Edenmont into sculpture. Following extended stays in Carrara, where she selected the purest white stone, Edenmont has created works in Carrara Statuario, black Belgian marble, and pink Portuguese marble — carrying the same themes of fragility and transformation into solid form.
Together, these works trace the range of Edenmont's practice across mediums and decades — from photography to sculpture — revealing a consistent artistic vision expressed in ever-new forms.

Nathalia Edenmont, (b. 1970, Crimea) was trained at the State Art School of Kiev, Soviet Union, Simferopol State Art School, Crimea, and Forsberg's International School of Design, Stockholm, Sweden. Her work has been exhibited extensively across Europe and the United States and is included in both private and public collections worldwide, including the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, the Miami Art Museum, and the Moscow House of Photography Museum, among others.
