"I’m nostalgic for future artworks"

Nathalia Edenmont in the Spotlight on Odalisque

Nathalia Edenmont is the subject of an in-depth interview in Odalisque Magazine, while her exhibition HERE I AM is currently on view at Wetterling Gallery.

In conversation with Natalia Muntean, Edenmont reflects on HERE I AM, a survey of 24 years of her practice, from early photographs and the butterfly works to her recent marble sculptures. She explains that she rarely looks back at earlier work and keeps her focus on what comes next. At the moment that means bronze, oil painting and the full-length figure in sculpture. The interview also covers her childhood in Yalta, her departure from the Soviet Union in 1991 and her first years in Sweden, her habit of working without sketches, and the personal subjects of fertility, menstruation and miscarriage, which often draw strong responses from viewers. For the full interview, see Odalisque here.

The artist’s current exhibition HERE I AM is on view at Wetterling Gallery until 15 November. It offers a rare overview of more than two decades of work across photography and sculpture.
